One Of A Kind 3-Dimensional Centennial Art Finds a Home at the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® Headquarters
A brand-new One Of A Kind art installation has a proud home at the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors® (NVAR) headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. To culminate their centennial celebration, NVAR commissioned artist Lawrence Romorini to create a 3-dimensional collage capturing their 100-year story. The 56” x 34” x 5” mosaic celebrates the association’s history, growth, advocacy and accomplishments.
NVAR’s artwork features a sculptural skyline of rooftops, suggesting the residences and neighborhoods of Northern Virginia. Decades of membership benefits and challenges surmounted reflect NVAR’s commitment to professional education, advocacy and technology. President portraits, displayed along the base, date back to the founding in 1921, honoring past leadership and the foundation they laid for NVAR’s exciting future.
130+ photos, publications and 3D items are elevated on slender steel rods at varying heights throughout the piece. The industry has seen many technological changes over the years, as Realtors® are ever evolving to meet the needs of their clients. Many innovations captured in 3D, suggest how cars, phones, lockboxes, and the MLS have advanced the profession along the way.
Special features include a headquarters building 3D replica centered at the base of the art—the “home” for members. A metal plaque on the 3-dimensional open door recaps NVAR’s first century. Virginia’s state bird—a cardinal—and state tree—the flowering dogwood, adorn a rooftop above the region’s map. Additional discoveries include a 1920s miniature house, hard hat with shovel, awards, centennial medallion and more.
“The archives of NVAR and the enthusiasm of both staff and members were great inspiration in capturing the heritage of NVAR and the benefits of membership in 3-dimensional art,” says Lawrence Romorini. “This One Of A Kind art will serve as an enduring communication piece for NVAR members, the Realtor® industry and guests as the organization enters its second century.”
NVAR was originally established in Alexandria, Va. and became known as the Alexandria-Arlington-Fairfax Real Estate Board within its first year. With about 40 members, the association served a population of 60,250. Over the decades that followed, the organization evolved into the association we know today, with over 12,500 Realtor® and affiliate business members. This group closes over 22,000 transactions each year, with a dollar volume totaling over $15 billion, in a community of more than 2 million residents.
The client’s response upon seeing the final art? “INCREDIBLE!”
