Creating Personalized Gifts for Two Esteemed Leaders:
Collages that are Fraternal Twins!
Hazen and Sawyer, an expert environmental consulting firm delivering water quality and water supply solutions to clients for over 70 years, commissioned 3-dimensional art to honor two longtime leaders. The challenge? How to make two collages for the same company similar in design yet completely One Of A Kind.
See the art below for the answer!
Artist Lawrence Romorini used Hazen’s branding to create collages with an overall similar look and feel. Drawing inspiration from the company’s logo, both collages feature the Hazen blue and silver. A water drop, photoengraved with the dedication, splashes into a water background, rippling ever outward. They are both diamond-shaped, measuring 25” x 25” x 3.5”, with silver metal cornerstones and include a white hard hat below the Hazen logo.
The artwork references their careers at Hazen and the company’s body of work. Both leaders specialize in wastewater treatment, and in recognition of their expertise, an aeration basin was created as a 3D miniature. A significant project’s paperweight was created as a clear image for both.
Some similar objects were personalized for each. Graphs and a U.S. map appear in each collage, but the data reflects stats resonating more with each recipient. A 3D silver shield features a different key word—“Permanence” for the CEO and “Culture” for the Vice President. As professional engineers, it was important to include their seals, displaying the states where each is licensed.
The stories begin at the top and flow counterclockwise. Miniature photos, publications, and 3D objects capture career milestones, favorite memories, family members, and personal interests. But that’s where the similarities end. The content is unique to each leader. Their personalities and experiences bubble up, leaving the viewer with two stories, two lives told through art.
The CEO’s piece focuses more on the corporate story and its growth, with iterations of the logo, and the company’s mission, vision, and first principles.
The Vice President’s artwork focuses on the Hazen team and the culture and connections that he’s built there. Private jokes among staff became hidden gems for the recipient to discover.
Hazen and Sawyer is home to many of the world’s top water experts with over 70 offices across the U.S. and over 1,700 team members. Hazen prides itself on its commitment to clients and finding solutions to water quality and water supply goals, while constantly adapting to any changes within the industry.
Presented at the same time, the artwork made an extraordinary, meaningful way to express appreciation for these executives’ vision, dedication and leadership. What fun to create this pair of collages—fraternal twins indeed!
