By , June 14th, 2021

As Flag Day is celebrated June 14, we remember how important the U.S. flag has been to many of our One Of A Kind recipients. And what a beautiful creation it is, offering a flowing, meaningful design element for Artist Lawrence Romorini to incorporate into his One Of A Kind 3-dimensional collages.

Congressman Jack Kemp’s 3-dimensional commemorative collage was the very first to include actual flags to symbolize his strong patriotism and service to his country. Over 25 years later, Jack Kemp’s tribute remains an all-time favorite for many who view samples of One Of A Kind artwork. (more…)

NeuharthPapers

The creation of Al Neuharth’s USA TODAY artwork was an unforgettable chapter in the One Of A Kind story. Lawrence Romorini’s very first corporate commission was for this titan of the newspaper industry, a visionary who had seen it all and had it all. It was the 5th anniversary of USA TODAY, and thanks to the vision of John Curley, Lawrence was commissioned to create a gift for Neuharth to commemorate the occasion. “Knock his socks off,” was the mandate to honor the USA TODAY Founder on the company’s anniversary.

Art we have created over the past 25 years for hospital anniversaries continues to communicate mission, values, and expertise during the unprecedented health challenges of 2020-2021. We honor the frontline caregivers who write a new chapter in their hospital’s history, with their sacrifice and lifesaving skills. And we hope their hospital’s lobby art brings good memories and inspiration as they revisit their legacy.

As scientists study how our physical environment affects us, we are learning that the art in hospitals is more important than we ever imagined. There is now a large body of research behind the selection of evidence-based art. This method of choosing artwork aims to help hospital administrators make decisions that are scientific rather than purely aesthetic. Some visual elements, particularly artwork that includes natural themes and people, have shown to be beneficial to patient recovery and staff morale. Laura Landro explores this idea in an interesting article for the Wall Street Journal. The article looks at ways hospitals are using art to improve patient care and the healing process. (more…)

Thank You, Kenny Rogers

By , March 23rd, 2020

Remembering Kenny Rogers on his passing. Lawrence and I are grateful for his music and ever grateful for the opportunity to have commemorated his story with a 50th birthday collage. We spoke to 60 of Kenny’s family and friends to get photos and ideas for the art. And what an amazing journey. From on-site research at his farm in Athens, Georgia to Los Angeles for a spectacular birthday party—with Dolly Parton performing—and the surprise presentation.

Kenny Rogers was also One-Of-A-Kind. The songs live on. RIP.
