Namesake of the first month of the year, Janus presided over beginnings, passages and endings: looking forward and looking back. In the same way, Lawrence Romorini incorporates both perspectives into his One Of A Kind 3-dimensional commemorative art, capturing a total story. (more…)

Illinois: Land of Lincoln and of One Of A Kind Artwork

Illinois is the fifth most populous state in the United States, and the top state for One of a Kind collages on display in both public and private collections. In Chicago alone we’ve collaborated on over 65 pieces of art, but from Bloomington to Peoria to Lisle, we’ve had many wonderful projects throughout the years.

Some commissions are more notable, such as Oprah Winfrey, The Field Museum, Michael Jordan, while other art commemorates a wide range of industries including the medical, agricultural, industrial, and financial fields, celebrating anniversaries and honoring their leaders.

We’re especially pleased when clients return for a 2nd commission, such as the Chicago Bulls, The Duchossois Group, Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare  and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

See a few of One Of A Kind’s Illinois commissions below and experience the fascinating diversity in the artwork: (more…)

I’m always excited and energized when our clients have a special meaningful 3D item that they want to include in their retrospective art. But sometime the item is too large–that’s when our team goes to work.

Our team uses all of the resources available to add that 3D touch to the art that people like to point to and talk about—they can do anything. (more…)

On this day in history, June 6, in 2002, the Wye Oak, the honorary state tree of Maryland, fell during a severe thunderstorm. It was believed to be over 460 years old and the largest White Oak in the United States. The remarkable tree measured 31 feet 10 inches around, 96 feet high, with branches spreading over 119 feet.

The state of Maryland collected the wood, and awarded it to a number of woodworkers and artists to commemorate the tree and its history. Artist Lawrence Romorini was one of the fortunate few to receive a branch from the tree. (more…)
