Congratulations to Witham Health Services on their 100th anniversary celebration! What an exciting occasion to be present for their first glimpse of their centennial artwork after 8 months of collaboration on the project. (more…)
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country,” explains the Department of Labor. Congress passed an act in 1894 recognizing this national holiday.
As we celebrate Labor Day 2015, One Of A Kind salutes some of the inspiring labor stories that we have had the opportunity to commemorate in 3-dimensional retrospective art. (more…)
It was a wonderful collaboration all the way – the Catamaran team was fantastic to work with. This collage celebrates the success of Catamaran under Mark Thierer’s leadership, preserves favorite memories and expresses appreciation as he departs. The art features an innovative timeline in 3D plexiglas charting the company’s major milestones during his tenure. (more…)
Over the past 30 years, Lawrence Romorini has had the privilege of creating 3-dimensional art for Brides and Grooms, each with a great One Of A Kind story. The artwork preserves favorite memories of the newlyweds and their families, the wedding, reception and much more in a custom-designed gift that continues to be enjoyed years later. Each commission is a collaboration to reflect a unique story and style. And what an amazing surprise wedding present! (more…)
It was our great fortune to commemorate Kennedy Health’s 50th anniversary with One Of A Kind art AND to attend their celebration in Stratford, NJ. Collage items came to life as we met the people they represented. Perhaps most memorably, I was able to speak with Dr. David Condoluci. Previously I’d sent him, in appreciation, a poster of my Names Project Quilt artwork after learning how he’d treated AIDS patients since the 1980s. The compassion he conveyed—even 30 years later–about those challenging early days was moving. (more…)
On this day in history, June 6, in 2002, the Wye Oak, the honorary state tree of Maryland, fell during a severe thunderstorm. It was believed to be over 460 years old and the largest White Oak in the United States. The remarkable tree measured 31 feet 10 inches around, 96 feet high, with branches spreading over 119 feet.
The state of Maryland collected the wood, and awarded it to a number of woodworkers and artists to commemorate the tree and its history. Artist Lawrence Romorini was one of the fortunate few to receive a branch from the tree. (more…)

Lawrence Romorini celebrates the 30th anniversary of his One Of A Kind Art Studio visually—looking back on a portfolio of over 2,500 commissions, including Marriott, Oprah Winfrey, Johns Hopkins and ESPN, and selecting 30 three-dimensional collages that represent his life’s work of commemorating great American stories, both corporate and personal. It’s been an amazing journey for this small, independent art studio, located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Michael King at 67, former CEO of King World Productions and remember with appreciation his creative vision in commissioning One Of A Kind art for Oprah Winfrey. (more…)
With our great client Gladys Hyman at the Harkins picnic in 1990, when Mr. Harkins’ art was unveiled.
Harkins Builders is celebrating their 50th year as an industry leader in providing professional construction management services. We remember with appreciation the opportunity to honor founder Tom Harkins with One Of A Kind art on the company’s 25th anniversary. Then several years later, we were called back by Mr. Harkins and Joani Van Tuyl to create commemorative art for Blase Cooke on his 25th anniversary with the company. (more…)
Lawrence and I often collaborate by phone and email with our clients and have wonderful long-distance relationships all over the country to create One Of A Kind art. But there’s nothing like meeting in person—either at client headquarters or at One Of A Kind. So it was especially exciting to welcome Jess and Lisa, who travelled from New Jersey to our studio to review and edit material for their 50th anniversary art. They brought so much enthusiasm and care for the organization—what a perfect team for the project. (more…)
